The Te Puke Business Excellence Awards are dedicated to recognising and rewarding our business community in the pursuit of excellence across a broad spectrum of business disciplines.

The judging process takes into account meeting and indeed surpassing Customer and Market expectations, the best Internal Management Processes, Stakeholder Outcomes and the Learning and Growth of Businesses and the People that work in them.

The 2011 Business Awards programme will run over a 18 week period.  After nominations are received and qualified, independent judges will assess each participant in the various categories and the public will also be invited to vote for a business that they believe offers an excellent product and customer service package.

This will culminate in an Awards Night on August 26, 2011.

Awards Background
Many small towns around New Zealand run their own ‘Awards’ of some sort – it’s a great way to foster pride in your business and your town and often gives smaller businesses the confidence to enter wider, regional awards.

The Awards programme started in 2006 and ran successfully again in 2007 and 2008.  In 2009 it was decided to roll the event over to 2010 where we expanded the Agri Business section to include Horticultural and Industrial Businesses.

The 2011 Te Puke Business Excellence Awards will build upon the successful format of the 2010 Awards.

The Bennett Gibson Group Supreme Award
The Bennett Gibson Group Supreme Award trophy was designed specially by local artist, Julie Neketai.

“It’s great to be able to share my passion for art with the public and when I was approached to create a sculptured trophy for the Te Puke Business Awards, I jumped at the opportunity” Julie said.

The sculpture has been created out of stone and symbolizes a variety of aspects of business today.

The Kauri base represents the ideas from which a business is formed; the strategies for business success are represented by the rock formations surrounding the lower part of the sculpture; and the open hand signifies business success and displays a Te Puke icon – a slice of kiwifruit.
